VCCS Alumnus Marcus Abraham Wins Big South Conference & Makes History

Alumnus Marcus Abraham Wins Big South Conference & Makes History | 1st Freshman Winner Since 2010 & 1st Ever for Gardner-Webb

Marcus Abraham, a 2015 VCCS graduate, made history last week by winning the Big South Track Conference in Shot Put. Marcus was the first freshman to place first in the conference since 2010.
After injuring his hip in a meet at UNCC a month ago,  Marcus had been experiencing pain on his right side. When he arrived at the Big South Conference at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, Marcus hadn't practiced with his Gardner Webb team in a week.  But after praying with his parents for healing, he felt ready to compete.

"I just give God all the glory because I didn't feel any pain," said Marcus. He not only placed first in shot put with a score of 16.59 meters, he also placed second in the conference's indoor competition.
